California ZEE Certification Program
Understanding CARB and ZEE
In accordance with the California Clean Air Act, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) is pursuing its
mission to provide cleaner air for Californians. Zero Emission Equipment, or ZEE, can generate positive

- Equipment must be capable of operating over an 8-hour period with qualifying batteries and chargers as supplied by the manufacturer.
- ZEE must achieve professional-level performance for battery-powered equipment through a series of laboratory endurance tests.
